A CRM with SMS built in, not a carrier account bolted on the side.

Native two-way SMS and MMS, A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration, consent capture, and STOP handling, all threaded onto the right contact. Keep your Twilio numbers if you already have them. Skip the carrier account if you do not.

Why buyers are here

Messaging integrations: what matters for CRM teams.

Teams searching for a CRM SMS integration usually arrive after one of two experiences. The first is running Twilio or another carrier next to a CRM that was never built to send texts, where the SMS channel lives in a separate console and the sales rep has to copy and paste numbers to send a reply. The second is signing up for a CRM that advertised SMS and discovering that the carrier account, A2P 10DLC filings, consent capture, and STOP handling are entirely the customer problem. These five pain points cover both.

Two systems, one conversation

The SMS console is a browser tab away from the CRM record.

When texting lives in Twilio Console, Front, or a standalone SMS tool, the rep opens one tab to see the conversation and another to see the deal, the account, the owner, and the last touch. Replies get missed because nobody is watching the inbox between emails, and the lead that texted "yes send pricing" sits for four hours before anyone sees it. The whole point of a CRM SMS integration is to land the thread on the contact timeline next to every other touch, not to pop a toast in a second app.

BYO carrier is expensive

Running Twilio next to your CRM is three bills, not one.

A Twilio account at list carries a per-number monthly fee, per-segment inbound and outbound carrier passthrough, A2P 10DLC brand registration, campaign registration fees, and whatever the CRM charges to connect to it. Teams that pencil out a Twilio-plus-CRM stack at trial and compare it to a native messaging line item at renewal typically see the native path land cheaper per segment, with one invoice, and no finance review of three vendor contracts.

A2P 10DLC is not a weekend project

Brand and campaign registration can take weeks the first time.

US SMS traffic to 10-digit long codes requires the Campaign Registry: brand vetting, use-case specific campaign filings, carrier approval, and the right opt-in language in your flows. Teams that run their own carrier account end up filing it themselves, with queue times that stretch for days per step and resubmits for every rejected campaign. A managed messaging product that files on your behalf collapses weeks into a short questionnaire plus a verification pass.

Compliance is on you

STOP, HELP, consent capture, and audit logs cannot be optional.

TCPA, CTIA, and the carrier guidelines require honored opt-outs on every send, HELP replies that identify your brand, documented express written consent per contact, and an audit trail you can produce on request. A CRM that treats SMS as a thin "send a message" button leaves every one of those requirements to the customer. The right messaging integration ships STOP handling, HELP responses, consent capture on inbound forms, and a per-contact consent log by default.

MMS and WhatsApp live elsewhere

The second your prospect sends a photo, the thread breaks.

Many CRM SMS integrations top out at plain text and route MMS attachments to "download link in your inbox" instead of rendering them on the record. International contacts over WhatsApp need a separate stack, with their own templates, their own approval queue, and their own compliance surface. Teams end up with the US thread on one tool, the international thread on another, and no single contact view that holds both.

Providers in Strkr

Messaging integrations available today.

Strkr covers both the native and the BYO path. If you do not have a carrier account today, Strkr Messaging is the one-click option: brand registration, campaign filings, and compliance scaffolding are included and the per-segment price lands below running Twilio yourself. If you already have Twilio numbers, long-standing short codes, or voice workloads you want to keep on your existing account, the BYO Twilio connection reuses them without rebuilding compliance filings.

Strkr Messaging

SMS and MMS native to Strkr. No external carrier account needed.

How Strkr handles SMS

What the native messaging path actually includes.

Strkr Messaging is the native product. One toggle, one invoice line, and the compliance work is handled by Strkr rather than by a customer admin who has never filed a 10DLC campaign before. Here is what ships inside the module without a second vendor.

Thread on the record

Every SMS lands on the contact timeline.

Inbound and outbound texts thread directly onto the matching contact, account, and deal. If the number is a known lead, the thread shows up on the lead record too. Reps answer from the record they were already working on, not from a second SMS console, and the thread history survives when a lead converts to a contact or a deal is created from an inbound message.

Compliance built in

STOP, HELP, and consent capture out of the box.

STOP keywords (STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, END, CANCEL) are honored automatically and recorded on the contact. HELP returns a branded response with your business name and support contact. Inbound web forms capture consent timestamps and the exact opt-in language on the record, so an audit request on any contact can be answered in one click rather than a spreadsheet rebuild.

A2P 10DLC filed for you

Brand and campaign registration handled on your behalf.

Strkr files the brand registration and the campaign filings on your behalf as part of onboarding. You answer a short questionnaire about your business, your use cases, and your opt-in flows, and Strkr submits the filings, tracks approval, and surfaces status on the admin page. If a carrier rejects a campaign, Strkr handles the resubmit.

MMS included

Images, screenshots, and short video attach to the thread.

MMS is a first-class part of the module, not a bolt-on. Attachments render inline on the contact timeline, counted and priced on the same per-send meter, with the same STOP handling and consent rules. Reps can send a floor plan, a product shot, or a signed delivery screenshot without opening a second tool to attach it.

Templates and bulk send

Compose, template, and route from the same surface.

Save templates with merge fields pulled from any object (contact, account, deal, custom field) and send single or bulk. Bulk sends respect quiet hours, consent, carrier rate limits, and segment the audience the same way the marketing module segments email. The template library is shared across reps, so a new hire inherits the voice and legal review the team already landed on.

Flows can text

Any automation can send a message, no second tool required.

The Flows engine treats SMS as another action next to email, Slack, task creation, and record updates. A trigger on "lead created from inbound form" can text the owner the first qualifying question. A trigger on "deal moved to proposal sent" can text the buyer a follow-up on day two. All of it happens inside the same workflow builder, with the same test harness and audit log.

BYO carrier

When bringing your own Twilio account makes sense.

Some teams land on Strkr with Twilio numbers already in production: toll-free numbers tied to historical campaigns, short codes with existing compliance filings, or voice workloads sharing the same account. The BYO Twilio integration lets Strkr send and receive on your Twilio numbers without rebuilding your filings or rotating your numbers. Here is what the BYO path trades off against the native one.

Keep your numbers

Existing Twilio phone numbers connect in without rotation.

The BYO Twilio connection reuses your existing Twilio phone numbers (long codes, toll-free, and short codes) as the sending identity. Contacts who have texted that number for the last two years keep seeing the same number. You skip the port-in paperwork and the "please update your contacts" email entirely.

Keep your filings

Your A2P 10DLC registrations stay on your Twilio account.

If your brand and campaign filings already live on your Twilio account, the BYO connection reuses them. You do not re-file, re-wait, or re-pay the registration fees. New campaigns still land on your Twilio account the normal way, and Strkr sends through whichever campaign the number is tied to.

Voice stays where it is

Twilio Voice and your existing dialer keep working.

Teams running Twilio Voice, Twilio Flex, or a dialer product tied to the same account can keep that infrastructure in place. Strkr Messaging routes SMS and MMS through the same account without touching the voice configuration. The number that answers calls on your IVR is the same number that threads texts onto the CRM record.

Your invoice path

Carrier charges stay on your Twilio bill, not on Strkr.

The per-segment and per-number charges stay on your Twilio invoice. The Strkr side only carries the integration fee, not the carrier passthrough. Finance teams with a long-standing Twilio contract (committed usage pricing, enterprise discounts, net-30 terms) keep the pricing they negotiated instead of folding it into a new vendor contract.

Trade-offs to know

BYO is more work; it is also more flexibility.

The native path is cheaper per segment and faster to launch; the BYO path keeps the compliance filings and carrier relationship you already paid for. Most teams starting fresh land on native; most teams migrating from an existing Twilio-plus-CRM stack land on BYO for the first six months and migrate to native over time once the historical contracts roll off.

Switch later

You can move from BYO to native without losing threads.

Thread history is stored on the Strkr side regardless of which carrier path sent the message. Teams that start on BYO Twilio and later move the number to the native path keep every historical thread on the contact timeline. The migration is a number port, not a data rebuild.

How teams use it

Real workflows the Messaging category powers.

Buyers evaluating a CRM SMS integration tend to arrive with a specific workflow in mind rather than an abstract "we need texting" goal. These are the six workflows the Messaging category is sized to carry on day one.

Inbound speed-to-lead

Text the lead inside sixty seconds of form submission.

A Flow on "lead created" sends a templated text from the owner inside the first minute. The reply lands on the lead record, routes through the normal round-robin if it needs a human, and converts the lead to a contact when the deal is created. Teams that measure response time by hours drop to sub-minute without hiring a nights-and-weekends inbox watcher.

Outbound reminder cadence

Appointment and demo reminders without a third tool.

A Flow on booked meeting fires a reminder text 24 hours before and a second reminder 1 hour before. The buyer can reply with a reschedule and the thread lands on the deal. Teams that were running Google Calendar plus a reminders add-on plus a texting tool collapse the stack into one trigger and three send actions.

Two-way qualification

Reps answer leads from the contact record.

Reps live inside the contact or deal detail page and respond to inbound texts without opening a second console. The thread shows avatar, timestamp, delivery receipts, and the last context (last call, last email, last stage change). The rep can hop from the SMS thread to the deal detail without a second tab.

Renewal nudge

Billing and renewal texts owned by the account manager.

A Flow on "subscription up for renewal in 30 days" sends a templated text from the account manager with the renewal date and a reply-to-confirm option. Replies thread onto the account, and the renewal task auto-closes when the buyer confirms. Finance stops chasing renewals in email; the AM owns the thread.

Marketing blast with consent

Bulk sends scoped to opted-in segments only.

A marketing send targets a segment, Strkr applies the consent filter and the quiet-hours filter automatically, and the audience only includes contacts with explicit SMS opt-in on record. The segment is reused across future sends without manual re-filtering, and consent revocations are honored on the next send without a human running a cleanup.

Audit on demand

Per-contact consent log answers any legal question in one click.

For any contact, the consent panel shows the opt-in timestamp, the exact language they consented to, the channel the consent came from (web form, imported list with vendor consent, inbound reply with STOP honored), and any opt-out events. If legal asks for the consent record on contact 4,712, the record is one click from the contact detail page.

Add SMS to the CRM, not a second console to the stack.

Common questions

Messaging integration FAQ.

How does the CRM SMS integration work?

There are two paths. The native path (Strkr Messaging) enables SMS and MMS inside the CRM on a toggle; A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration are handled by Strkr, numbers are provisioned on your behalf, and per-segment pricing is published on the Messaging product page. The BYO path (BYO Twilio) connects an existing Twilio account; Strkr sends and receives on your Twilio numbers using your existing filings, and the per-segment carrier charges stay on your Twilio bill. Both paths thread inbound and outbound messages onto the matching contact, account, and deal.

Do I need my own A2P 10DLC brand registration?

On the native path, no. Strkr files brand and campaign registrations on your behalf as part of onboarding. You answer a short questionnaire about your business and your use cases, and Strkr submits the filings, tracks approval, and surfaces status on the admin page. On the BYO Twilio path, your existing brand and campaign filings stay on your Twilio account and Strkr uses them as-is. New campaigns on BYO are filed through Twilio the normal way.

Does Strkr support WhatsApp for CRM conversations?

WhatsApp Business is not on the current Messaging module. Today the Messaging surface covers US SMS and MMS on 10DLC and toll-free numbers, with Twilio BYO for teams with existing US numbers. International WhatsApp is on the roadmap and will land as a provider under the same Messaging module when it ships, with the same thread-on-record and consent-capture behavior.

What happens when a contact texts STOP?

STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, END, and CANCEL are honored automatically on receipt. The contact is flagged opted-out, the opt-out event is recorded on the consent log with timestamp, and any future bulk send scoped to that segment skips them without a human running the filter. If the same contact later texts START or UNSTOP, the opt-out is reversed and the new consent timestamp is recorded. HELP returns a branded response with your business name and support contact.

Can I use my existing Twilio phone numbers?

Yes. The BYO Twilio integration connects an existing Twilio account and reuses your existing phone numbers (long codes, toll-free, and short codes) as the sending identity. No port-in paperwork, no number rotation, and no "please update your contacts" email. Your A2P 10DLC filings stay on your Twilio account, your voice workloads keep running on the same account, and the per-segment carrier charges stay on your Twilio invoice.

What is the pricing difference between native and BYO?

The native path is a flat Messaging module fee plus a published per-segment rate, visible on the Messaging product page. The BYO path has a lower Strkr-side integration fee and no per-segment Strkr markup; the per-segment carrier charges stay on your Twilio invoice at whatever rate you have negotiated with Twilio. Most teams starting fresh land on native because the all-in per-segment rate is cheaper than running Twilio at list. Teams with a committed-usage Twilio contract usually land on BYO until the contract rolls.
